In short: you are buying unlimited access to petanque training videos, available as soon as you pay. Because access is immediate, you waive your right of withdrawal when you place your order. Coaching courses and tailor-made services are subject to a quote. If there is a problem, write to Petanque Academy first; a free mediator, the CM2C, can then help you.
Who sells, and to whom
These general terms and conditions of sale (the “terms and conditions”) apply to all sales concluded on the petanqueacademy.fr website and to all services offered by Petanque Academy.
The seller is Jean-François Meyrieux, sole trader (entrepreneur individuel), trading under the name Petanque Academy:
- address: 56 rue Martin Luther King, 44240 La Chapelle-sur-Erdre, France;
- SIRET: 900 115 791 00023;
- VAT not applicable, Article 293 B of the French General Tax Code;
- phone: +33 6 48 99 32 63;
- email: petanqueacademy@gmail.com.
These terms and conditions are intended for consumers, that is, people who buy outside their professional activity. The clauses specific to business customers (clubs, committees, businesses) are set out in the “Business customers” section.
Placing an order means that you have read and accepted these terms and conditions, which you confirm by ticking the box provided for this purpose. The applicable version is the one online on the day of your order.
What is offered
The online programme
Petanque Academy sells petanque training videos: the full training programme and individual modules. The content of each offer (number of modules and videos, topics covered) is described on its own page, before you order.
This programme is not sports instruction within the meaning of the French Sports Code (Code du sport). It is informal educational support, designed to enrich your personal practice of petanque, with no individual supervision and no qualification awarded.
Coaching courses and services subject to a quote
Petanque Academy also offers coaching courses, individual or small-group sessions, team-building days and tailor-made services. These services are described on the website and are subject to a quote or a written confirmation setting out their content, location, dates, price and payment terms. Their specific rules are set out in the “Coaching courses, team building and services subject to a quote” section.
Prices
Prices are shown in euros. Petanque Academy is covered by the VAT exemption scheme for small businesses: VAT not applicable, Article 293 B of the French General Tax Code. The price displayed is therefore the total price to pay, with no extra charge.
Petanque Academy may change its prices at any time. The price applied is the one displayed when you confirm your order.
Ordering
To order the online programme:
- add the offer you have chosen to the basket;
- on the checkout page, enter your contact details; a student account is created in your name;
- check the order summary (offer, price) and correct it if necessary;
- tick the box to accept the terms and conditions, and the box to request immediate access and waive your right of withdrawal;
- choose your payment method and confirm.
Your order is binding once payment has been accepted. A confirmation is sent to you by email: it sets out your order and restates your agreement to immediate access and your waiver of your right of withdrawal. Keep it: it serves as proof.
Petanque Academy keeps orders and invoices for 10 years. You can obtain a copy simply by asking.
Payment
Payment is made online, when you place your order, by:
- card, through Stripe;
- PayPal, including the option, offered by PayPal, to spread the cost over several payments.
Spreading the cost over several payments is a PayPal service, subject to PayPal’s own terms and approval: it creates a contract between you and PayPal. Petanque Academy receives the full amount of the order.
Payments are secured by these providers. Petanque Academy never has access to your card numbers.
Access to the programme
Access opens as soon as payment is confirmed, in your student area, with your account username and password.
Duration: access is unlimited, with no subscription, for as long as the training platform is run by Petanque Academy. Should Petanque Academy ever stop offering the online programme, students will be given at least 3 months’ notice by email, so that they have time to make the most of it.
What you need to follow the programme: an Internet connection and an up-to-date browser, on a computer, tablet or phone. The videos are played online. Petanque Academy takes the necessary steps to keep the platform available, but cannot guarantee that it will never be interrupted, in particular for maintenance or if a provider’s service fails.
Personal access: your account is for your personal use only. It may not be lent, shared or resold. The videos may not be downloaded, recorded or distributed. In the event of a breach, and after an email warning that has gone unheeded, Petanque Academy may suspend access.
Right of withdrawal
In principle, a distance purchase can be cancelled within 14 days. There are, however, exceptions provided for by law, which apply to Petanque Academy’s offers.
Online programme: waiver when you order
The online programme is digital content supplied without a tangible medium, accessible immediately. In accordance with Article L221-28 13° of the French Consumer Code (Code de la consommation), the right of withdrawal cannot be exercised when:
- you have expressly requested that access begin before the end of the withdrawal period;
- you have expressly acknowledged that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal;
- Petanque Academy has confirmed this agreement to you by email.
This is why, when you order, you tick a box to request immediate access and waive your right of withdrawal. If this box is not ticked, the order cannot be confirmed. The order confirmation sent by email restates this agreement.
Coaching courses and services on a set date
Nor does the right of withdrawal apply to leisure activity services provided on a specific date or during a specific period (Article L221-28 12° of the French Consumer Code), such as a coaching course on agreed dates. The cancellation terms for these services are those set out in the “Coaching courses, team building and services subject to a quote” section and in the quote.
In all other cases: 14 days
For a service contract concluded at a distance that falls under none of these exceptions, you have 14 days from the conclusion of the contract to withdraw, without having to give any reason. Simply send a clear statement, for example using the form in the annex, by email to petanqueacademy@gmail.com or by post. The sums paid are refunded to you within 14 days of your request, using the same payment method. If you asked for the service to begin before the end of the withdrawal period, the part already provided remains payable (Article L221-25 of the French Consumer Code).
Coaching courses, team building and services subject to a quote
Booking: a booking becomes binding once the quote has been signed or Petanque Academy has confirmed it in writing, and once the deposit has been paid, if one is required. The amount of the deposit, the schedule for paying the balance and the payment methods are stated in the quote.
Cancellation by the participant: the cancellation terms (notice periods and any amounts withheld) are set out in the quote. Where nothing is specified, a cancellation notified in writing more than 30 days before the start of the service entitles you to a full refund of the sums paid.
Cancellation by Petanque Academy: if Petanque Academy has to cancel a service, for example because the coach is unable to attend or there are not enough participants for a group coaching course, it will offer you a new date. If that date does not suit you, the sums paid are refunded in full.
Weather: coaching courses take place outdoors or under cover, depending on the venue. In the event of dangerous conditions (thunderstorm, weather warning), the session is put back or postponed to a mutually agreed date.
Health and insurance: petanque is a physical activity. Participants must be fit to play and must tell the coach about any relevant health problem. They must be covered by personal liability insurance (responsabilité civile). Minors take part under the responsibility of their parents.
Legal guarantees
Petanque Academy is liable for any lack of conformity of the digital content it supplies, in accordance with Articles L224-25-12 and following of the French Consumer Code. For continuous supply, such as access to the online programme, the guarantee covers the entire period of access.
If any content does not work or does not match its description (unplayable video, missing module), report it to petanqueacademy@gmail.com. You are entitled to have it brought into conformity free of charge within a reasonable time and, if this is impossible or is not done, to a price reduction or to termination of the contract with a refund.
Liability
The advice given in the programme and during coaching courses is technical and educational. It is no substitute for medical advice. Everyone practises within their own physical capabilities.
Petanque Academy is not liable for any inability to access caused by your equipment, your Internet connection or an event of force majeure. Nothing in these terms and conditions limits the rights you have under the law.
Intellectual property
The videos, texts, materials and methods of the programme are the property of Jean-François Meyrieux. Your purchase gives you a right of personal use, not a right to reproduce or distribute. Any copying, distribution or resale, in whole or in part, is prohibited.
Personal data

Business customers
For clubs, committees, associations and businesses buying for the purposes of their activity:
- the specific terms of the quote take precedence over these terms and conditions;
- invoices are payable on the date stated on the quote or the invoice;
- any late payment automatically incurs penalties equal to three times the legal interest rate, plus a fixed sum of €40 as compensation for recovery costs, under Articles L441-10 and D441-5 of the French Commercial Code (Code de commerce);
- the right of withdrawal and consumer mediation do not apply.
Complaints and mediation
If you have a question or complaint, contact Petanque Academy first: petanqueacademy@gmail.com, +33 6 48 99 32 63, or by post at the address above. You will receive a prompt reply, within one month at the latest.
If the disagreement persists, you can refer the matter free of charge to the consumer mediator with which Petanque Academy is registered (Articles L611-1 and following, and L616-1, of the French Consumer Code):

Governing law
These terms and conditions are governed by French law. Failing an amicable settlement or mediation, the dispute will be brought before the competent court under the ordinary rules of jurisdiction. As a consumer, you may bring the matter before the court for the place where you live.
